How to Get Rid of a Panic Attack

Anxiety attacks are no easy to describe, most will not understand them unless they have experienced one first hand. Some people will go their whole lives without a single panic attack, others will experience at least one in. However anxiety attacks are a much more serious problem for people who get them on a regular basis, for these people treatment is an option. Luckily anxiety relief is available.

But just what is an anxiety attack and how do you know that you are having one? During an attack, there could be intense pounding of the heart, shortness of breath, a lot of perspiration, and possibly even some stomach pain and chest discomfort. Some people have reported feelings of dizziness and tingle sensations that are felt all over the body.

It is important to remember though that not every symptom will be experienced each and every time. Every attack can be different. These attacks will generally come on suddenly, without warning, and will reach a peak within ten minutes. Even though they do not appear from a medical sense to last very long, someone experiencing the attacks will feel as though they last forever. The entire ordeal can be extremely frightening and frustrating.

Someone who experiences a lot of panic attacks will need to determine if there are any triggers that seem to bring on the panic attacks. For example, if you find that traffic jams tend to lead you down a road of panic attacks, begin to think positive thoughts when you notice that there is a lot of traffic piling up. Being proactive and thinking ahead will help you in overcoming anxiety.

One of the most important things to keep in mind is that an anxiety attack cannot hurt you. Your heart will not stop, you will not stop being able to breath, and you will definately not go crazy. It is important to remember this because during an attack you can often feel these things could happen, which can increase the intensity of the attack.

Controlling anxiety is about how to control the situation once an attack does occur. While preventative measures are important an attack can still occur, it’s important to know what to do if they do.

Learning relaxation techniques like deep breathing can also be very beneficial. Not everything will work for everyone so be sure to play around with different methods and find out what works for you.

Once you understand what an anxiety attack is, the signs and symptoms and the various treatments out there, you will be able to win the battle of overcoming anxiety. It may take a little bit of time but the reward in the end is well worth it. Before you know it, you will have your anxiety attacks under complete control.
