Hypnotherapy and Conventional Medicine

Most illnesses and medical conditions are treated in exactly the way you?d expect: by a doctor or other medical professional. There may be a surgical intervention needed with some conditions, perhaps a course of physical therapy or other medical treatment. One thing which is common to the treatment of nearly every illness in conventional medicine is the use of medications. Sometimes, but by no means all the time are pharmaceuticals the best way to go. There are alternative therapies which can be effective treatments for many conditions usually treated with drugs. One of these alternatives is hypnotherapy, a treatment which is becoming increasingly common.

Hypnotherapy can be sued for a variety of illnesses and ailments but it I important to keep in min that you should always check with your doctor prior to starting any type of treatment on your own so that it will not effect any current treatment plan you may be on. Together you and your doctor will work together to give you the best options in your medical care. Many doctors like to try hypnotherapy to help change certain behaviors in people. Many times these behaviors would be something such as smoking, over eating and even problems with bed-wetting.

Patients with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) have found relief from the discomfort and pain that this disease is well known for producing. Those using chemotherapy to treat cancer also have been able to reduce the side effects of this treatment, including the nausea which is associated with chemotherapy. While medication is the best solution for some diseases, their side effects can cause severe discomfort of their own. Hypnotherapy is a beneficial addition to these treatments, helping patients to alleviate the side effects of their treatment.

Hypnotherapy can also be used in conjunction with conventional medical treatments for many skin problems including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and even warts. The hypnosis helps speed along the healing process, making the traditional medical solutions for these ailments more efficient. Those who suffer from asthma have also benefited from hypnotherapy. They find that the relaxation this treatment promotes to help them breathe more freely and reduce the severity of their symptoms.

Hypnosis has also been used to help women have quicker and less painful childbirth. Using hypnosis during birth allows women to take their focus off of the pain of giving birth, allowing the process to happen in less time. Hypnotherapy also holds promise for use in dentistry, where it may be able to allow for less painful dental surgery and other dental procedures.

There are useful applications for hypnotherapy in treating a wide range of medical issues, whether on its own or as an adjunct to conventional medicine. Talk to your doctor about the possibility of making hypnosis an integral part of your medical treatment.
