Overcome Stuttering Today

Being the fast society that we are, people are feeling the need to talk much faster than normal, causing the stutterer to get further behind. Everyone acts as if they are running out of time, especially in the corporate world, so time management is becoming a necessity. Since this is a fast talking, fast paced world, how is the people who struggle with stuttering ever going to catch up to this society, while dealing with a speech impediment? Young people and the older ones suffer from stuttering, and often times we don’t realize what they have to deal with and how it affects their lives.

If you are one of the many people out there who are suffering from stuttering, learn to relax. Did you know that relaxing is one of the keys to taking control of stuttering? When you relax and let go of stress, it helps you think and speak a whole lot clearer. There are a few other ways that I would like to talk to you about to help you with overcoming stuttering.

Mickey Gillie was an old country singer with a few great songs. But the funny thing is that though he could sing really well, when the press came to interview him he stuttered like crazy. Now my point to this whole story is for you to start singing. Now I am not saying that you are going to Nashville, but singing helps. If shyness gets in the way, go to the mirror and sing to yourself. After you have built some confidence and self esteem, then you can move on and start doing it in front of your friends and family.

Breathing is also an important factor when overcoming stuttering. This method works great with public speakers and singers. All you need to do is when you are breathing take a deep breath and when you go to exhale all the bad air out, that is when you let out those words to. Most of the time stutterers try to rush their speech. They get overly excited or they feel rushed. So they usually don’t slow down enough to breath and let their words come out naturally. They instead fall right over their tongue so to speak. We all tend to trip over ourselves, so I can only imagine what it is like for the stutter sufferer. Just remember to speak when you exhale, and this will help your condition immensely.

Doing so, they trip over their tongues. We all do, imagine how hard it would be for a stutter sufferer. So, deep breaths, then even speaking as you exhale, nice and easy and stress-free. By doing things this way, you will help your condition greatly, because one of the root causes of stuttering is stress. Breathing exercises are a great stress reliever. A perfect combination.

Remember all of the tips above that I gave you. The most important is relaxing, then breathing, visualization, and singing to you. Make sure to practice in front of the mirror first, and do it over and over. Learn to move stress out of the way and you will become an “overcomer.
