Overcoming Panic Attacks – What You Need To Know

Panic disorder is an awful thing to have to deal with as a panic attack can occur anywhere to anyone. There is no significant place or activity that has to be happening to trigger an episode.

Since I have experienced the feeling of panic attack, I do not want to go into the details of the symptoms as it may be very painful if you have also experienced it. Let us focus on how to fight this feeling.

When you realize you are going to be struck by another bout of panic, you must remember certain things to do. What you must not do is to take a deep breath as many people tend to do exactly that. The reason why I have mentioned this is because whenever you are undergoing this panic attack, there is bound to be breath-shortening.

When a person who is unable to breathe properly tries to take a deep breath, this will only make things worse. He/she will notice that his/her breathing has still not improved, and that he/she is still short of breath. This might cause more tension and worry for the person. At such times, try to divert your mind from what is happening. Think of something else that you like, something that you enjoy doing, someone you love. Don’t think about your breathing problem.

A panic attack is just that, and so many people suffer from them and understand the feeling. There is no need to give it any further thought and look around you for something else to think about. Find something that will distract you from what is currently being triggered.

Another great approach to warding off a panic attack is motion. When feeling anxious, put yourself into motion by jumping, dancing, or just moving about while reassuring yourself that you can beat the panic and fear.

Although it’s easy to read about, I understand how hard it can be to keep panic attacks at bay. Understand that acting fast is the key to overcoming feelings of fear and anxiety. There is no good reason to wait.

The sooner you come to realize you need to act fast to prevent further attacks, the better off you will be. Do not delay because you believe that over time the panic attacks will cease because they will do the opposite. Panic disorder will not just go away on their own-it is up to you to take control of before they end up controlling you and your daily life.
