Panic Attacks and Agoraphobia

The panic attacks are anxiety disorders that are often not understood. While numerous people know what panic attacks are, they possibly aren’t educated on what normally can trigger these attacks. The people may not be aware of the various things that can bring on these panic attacks. There is a fascinating connection between agoraphobia and the onset of these panic attacks, agoraphobia is one of the triggers for these attacks.

Agoraphobia is equally understood as many people do not realize that the condition is an anxiety disorder. Specifically, it is a condition where anxiety derives from fear of unfamiliar conditions and environments. For example, a person who is fearful of open spaces or unfamiliar regions probably would have a difficult time in a rural area. Of course, the numbers of environments a person suffering from agoraphobia can be fearful of are vast. The environments may vary but the end result can be the same. That is, the environments can yield a panic attack.

As the term implies, panic attacks happen when individuals have more anxiety than they can handle, which leads to severe mental and physical problems due to this. These attacks could last either long or short in duration, but these need to always be considered as serious. In which way do these panic attacks occur in relation to an episode of agoraphobia?

The fear of the big open spaces can trigger a fight or a flight feeling. This is actually an instinct that all living beings large and small have when they perceive danger. All living beings want to fight or flee danger, when a threat is near, so that they can protect themselves and their loved ones. But when agoraphobia comes on, the reaction is made more severe because of confusion happening with all the other sensations.

What does the person do if the panic attack happens at a time that is inconvenient? First you need to calm yourself, take control of your breathing by taking deep breaths, and get your heart to quit beating rapidly in the same way. This helps cure the issue when it happens. This is only a temporary remedy and the primary issue still needs to be treated completely to cut down on future occurrences.

Obviously, the correct method of trying to minimize the effect that the panic attack, and the connection with the agoraphobia is to search out medical assistance. A certified mental health physician or counselor will be able to develop a plan for therapy, to cut down on the many issues involved in having these disorders. In fact these disorders will not disappear on their own.

Clearly, the best way to deal with curtailing the effects of a panic attack and its association with agoraphobia would be to seek professional help. A qualified mental health professional can certainly provide a treatment plan that would reduce the many problems associated with these conditions. As such, seeking professional help is recommended since the problem will not go away on its own.

Agoraphobia is a serious condition on its own and when it is combined with a panic attack. This is why the condition must be taken seriously. Once again, it cannot and will not go away on its own.
