Panic Attacks – Can You Cure Them Without Drugs?
Panic attacks, or anxiety attacks as they are usually one and the same, can strike you out of the blue. They hit you like lightening and probably do as much damage. If you are a helpless victim of panic attacks do you wish you could magic them away? Maybe you can
Completely Out Of The Blue
My wife was driving when she was struck by her first panic attack. Clearly this could have had disastrous consequences. When we both got over the shock, and let me tell you I was as shocked as her. We went to visit our doctor.
After the lecture that it’s all in her head we eventually got prescribed beta blockers. I say “we” because even though it was my wife having it, I was feeling like part of it all. If that makes any sense. The drugs would slow her heart rate and stop the onset of the attacks, fingers crossed.
We tentatively went out in the car again and sure enough at the same junction my wife started to feel an attack coming on. Basically she had a panic attack while the drugs kept her heart rate slower. She said this was worse than before. Full blown panic yet her heart never even got into second gear.
Drugs Went Straight In The Trash
We trashed the beta blockers as soon as we got safely home. My wife suffered for about nine months not being able to get behind the wheel. She had mixed feelings about it because she didn’t suffer panic attacks when she wasn’t driving.
She was determined we couldn’t allow the situation to continue. Not driving wasn’t a long term option for her. I went on the web and did a bit of digging. We tried a few different things, with mixed results. None of them worked properly, at least not for us.
We Tried Everything…& Then Some
We then happened across yet another “method” to supposedly stop them. We tried it, and first reports looked good. My wife had long since stopped any drugs so any success was clearly down to the new method. The first time she drove she felt an attacked looming. However she quickly put the method into practice and got through the attack ok.
In our debriefing session later she said that although there was a panic attack, it was no where near as bad as before because of the new system. She knew she had managed to lessen its effects herself. And this was a big confidence booster. She was sure that next time she had an attack she had the tools to halt it in its tracks, although it didn’t work out as good as that.
Little By Little
Again though, she managed to lessen its effects. She did this every time it happened. She made it less and less every time. It wasn’t too long (weeks) before she felt confident enough to see an attack coming and to halt it from going any further.
If panic attacks are the bane of your life you can either do nothing, or see your doctor and try some form of medication. The former won’t help you and the latter may or may not help.
Or you can take the matter into your own hands and stop these panic attacks before they start. The key is at this website… Panic-Stations.com
