Anxiety is an emotion that many people feel from time to time. It is normal for you or anyone to feel a bit nervous or anxious over certain situation. Speaking in front of a crowd makes some people feel this way. Others get nervous being around strangers. This is a very normal form of anxiety and nothing much to worry about.
If your anxiety levels rise to a heavy feeling of fear or your become real nervous that turns into the state of panic. This will lead to a full-blown panic attack. Panic attacks if untreated can be very debilitating to people. Panic attacks often can keep people from living a normal everyday life.
A sudden feeling of fear or nervousness is how panic attacks begin. You start to feel your heart race, and you may sweat profusely. Being overwhelmed or crippled by fear often can result in spinning out of control. If you can’t handle the situation the panic can make you act irrationally. Alcoholics that don’t think too clearly due to being under the influence can also start to panic. Abusing drugs is something you definitely want to stay away from if you suffer from anxiety. An altered state of mind is difficult to make rational decisions.
Awareness of what your symptoms of panic attacks will help to tell if you are suffering from them. The only bright side is that a panic attacks usually only lasts for about 10 minutes. Unfortunately though, during this time you can easily lose control.
Short breathing, heart pounding, your thoughts are racing, and you start to get chest pain due to an extreme feeling of fear. Your crippled with fear. Some people have complained that they have a feeling that they are being smothered, choking, etc. Fainting and dizziness are common and may occur. You may start to shake and tremble as the fear grips you and overwhelms you.
Numbness, toes tingling, fingers numb or tingling, chills, hot flashes, sweating, or nausea are other signs of panic attacks, and when you feel these, you can start thinking that you want to die or lose control.
Panic attacks are fairly common they occur in about 2.4 million of the adults in America. These can start occurring in the late teenage years and in the beginning of adulthood.
