What Are The Symptoms Of A Panic Attack?

If you have never had a panic attack, you are probably one of those individuals who bring ridicule and criticism to those that do. It is a simple ignorance of never having experienced this that allow you the luxury of acting this way. An individual who suffers from one will usually get quickly overwhelmed with feelings of anxiety and panic and will have them quickly escalate over the next few minutes. It is possible for these feelings to pass in about a half hour, but it is also possible to experience these feeling repeatedly.

Other symptoms that you may experience is you think you are having a panic attack are: a sudden feeling that you are dying or that you have lost control, shortness or breath, nausea, dizziness, sweating, hot flashes chills, uncontrollable shaking and racing heart. More than likely, it will be some type of combination of these symptoms of a panic attack.

These attacks can happen for a variety of reasons. There are medical conditions that will trigger these attacks. There are also medications that have side effects of initiating symptoms of panic attacks. Of course, most of the time these attacks are started when you are in a position or situation that will trigger it.

The most common of all of these is getting caught in a situation that will cause you stress or fear. These situations will obviously vary on the individual, but some examples are things like tight spaces, big crowds and flying. Any of these can make people uncomfortable, but have an extreme affect on others.

At times, a sufferer of a panic attack may think that they are suffering from a heart attack. It is not unreasonable to see how this can happen as several of the characteristics or each are shared. If this is happening to you, play it safe and seek medical attention. Better to be sure than end up thinking it is not something severe and then actually realizing that it is a heart attack, but being too late to do anything about it.

Although it is not as common in children as adults, they are sometimes the victims of this condition. This is usually a sign of something more though, as if a child is experiencing panic attacks, it will be an overblown fear of something like bugs, or separation from their parents. If your child is showing signs of a panic attack, medical help should be sought as you will want them to have every chance of addressing these issues before going into adulthood.
