What Are the Typical Causes of Anxiety Attacks?

Before we can discuss the causes of anxiety attacks, you need to understand that there are a lot of different things that can happen to people that result in anxiety disorders. While one person might get set off by a unique thing, the same situation might be laughable to another, however, there are a few things that have been proven to affect anxiety attacks. Experts to pin-pointed a range of things from environmental, physical, psychological, and cultural influences that can influence anxiety conditions.

Firstly, some people have a genetic predisposition for anxiety and panic episodes. You shouldn’t give up on being free from panic, but there is evidence that heredity and the environment you were raised in can lead to anxiety problems. Studies show that some families have higher than normal rates of anxiety. When one identical twin develops a panic disorder, the other twin tends to run a greater risk of also ending up with a panic disorder. Non-identical twins share a much weaker link, indicating that genetics does play a role. Some research also tells us that anxiety can be learned from our parents when we are children.

Certain personality types tend to fall victim to anxiety. Some personality types just tend to be more anxious. People that have low self-confidence may also run a greater risk for attaining anxiety attacks. People that have not learned how to efficiently handle daily stress seem to have more panic attacks. Type “A” personalities also seem to experience panic attacks and nervous breakdowns more frequently when their careful schemes fail to pan out. These personality traits can always be adapted by changing our beliefs.

The causes of anxiety attacks can also be associated to certain events in our lives. When sustained for a long time, violent and abusive events tend to influence a person’s likelihood of experiencing panic attacks. Therapy has been proven to help people cope with challenging life occurrences that have left them feeling anxious and panicked.

Certain medical issues have also been known to be proven to lead to increased amounts of anxiety. High blood pressure, diabetes, or an overactive thyroid are all known to influence your levels of anxiety. Sometimes just the overwhelm of dealing with a serious condition can aggravate your anxiety.
