If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, you know how they can affect your life. While it may be difficult to admit, but its important to get help. Your body will pay an emotional and physical toll if you do not get help in trying to deal with and subdue anxiety attacks.

One of the methods many people have used to help deal with their anxiety is called the 30 second method. Basically, you allow yourself to experience the panic or anxiety attack for 30 seconds. Many people that suffer from panic attacks have the additional fear that they will suffer permanent damage to their bodies, which causes further incapacitation.

At the onset of a panic attack, you go with it for 30 seconds. If you think that your heart will burst then it will within that time frame. You will want to give your anxiety attack 30 seconds to do its best to you. You probably understand the idea by now, so just keep in mind that if you feel an anxiety attack about to happen, just let it happen, only giving it 30 seconds to do what it wants to you.

Start counting backwards from 30, slowly, and give it enough time to pass. Now you may be wondering why this method works, most of the time. The main thing is the control that you have over the situation, which helps you oppose the anxiety attack, as you are in control of the attack, and setting the limits within which the attack can happen.

This method puts you in the drivers seat, rather than being a victim of the attack. Also, do not rush when counting, as you may be tempted to do. Even it it goes more than 30 seconds, take your time and stay focused. Just countdown backwards slowly. With this type of method the more you practice it you will soon discover that your heart will not explode, you will not die, and the attack is only a physical sensation and does not cause physical harm.

As time goes by, you will find that you achieve better control over the panic attack, as well as your own actions. There are people that use breathing exercises that are similar to those pregnant women use while in labor, to help them ease through their attack, but this doesn’t control them, it only helps to manage the attack. In contrast, by counting backwards from 30, you gain control and eventually can stop these attacks altogether.

You need to seek treatment and face your panic and anxiety attacks head on.

There are many symptoms that are manifested in panic or anxiety attacks ranging from shortness of breath, to sweating and fear of death. Regardless of the strength of the attack, an anxiety attack can be very frightening. You will be at risk for attacks in the future if you have ever had one to begin with, because you will always anticipate the next one.

If you feel short of breath, find yourself very afraid or are sweating profusely, you may be experiencing the symptoms of an anxiety attack. The experience can be pretty scary no matter how mild or severe your attacks might be. It also can become a vicious circle for you, after having an anxiety attack you begin to fear future ones, which in turn can cause an attack to occur.

In that sense, your concern about having panic attacks has now become self fulfilling. There may not be a simple solution to all of this, but there are options you can consider. First, just because you have had an anxiety attack it does not mean you will continue to have them forever.

Much of this is mental, so with proper support and training you can learn to overcome and control them. Second, there is no medication available that will alleviate these types of attacks. First you have to learn to accept them, then you need to deal with preventing then from running your life. Once you some semblance of control you will be eliminating one of the reasons for these attacks.

Learning to prevent these attacks, learning about their symptoms and why they occur and how to prevent them will arm you with the tools to concur them. Do you know one of the best ways to overcome anxiety? Well, this may not be a surprise to you – just relax! You have control over your thoughts and actions, so keeping in mind that thoughts become things, train yourself to let go of the negative thoughts. Make a decision that you will no longer allow anyone to pressure you into doing anything that you are not comfortable doing.

This could trigger a panic attack. Organize your life to give you more control. If you need to, take some time away from your job and look at your life from a new perspective. Try something new to get a different view on your situation. Do people look at you differently because of these attacks? Do you think people will react differently if you are able to keep your anxiety under control?

By learning to control your anxiety it can definitely help everyone, and people will give you more positive feedback. When you reach different levels of being calm, you can reward yourself and this positive reinforcement will bolster your progress. This is something you should consider. If you think you can feel the beginning of an attack coming, just immediately flood your mind with those calming memories you had before. Once you’ve had even a minor success level you will find the confidence to know you can do it over again and get through it. You will find yourself more confident in yourself once you learn about control.

By building on this you can eventually conquer them, one step at a time. With outside counseling and effort on your part you can overcome your obstacles. So follow up and get some help, take baby steps, set your goals, and learn to overcome your panic and anxiety attacks once and for all.
