The doctor can not treat you if you are misleading them.

If you have been diagnosed with depression and insomnia it will help you tremendously to seek counseling. Your therapist may be able to help you find the reason for your depression. Insomnia and depression usually go hand in hand with each other. One can cause the other. You may want to have your medical physician run test to check for any conditions or imbalances that could be affecting you.

Medication can be the best treatment for depression and insomnia. Usually after talking with your psychologist you will be prescribe a medication that will help. You may prefer to not take medication which is fine. But you should try something else, even if it is herbs or supplements. Depression and insomnia are both very treatable.
