Getting What You Want In Life Is More Likely When You Raise Your Expectations
You can accomplish more than you ever thought possible, you just need to raise your expectations. The key to this technique is to learn how to push yourself forward without going over the top.
What can you accomplish by raising your expectations?
If you’re perfectly happy with your current situation in life, you might be wondering why you’d want to raise your expectations. Well, when you expect more, you’ll drive yourself to achieve that much more.
Can you think of a time when you didn’t expect anything out of a situation. I’ll bet you were neither fulfilled or unhappy with the result because you didn’t really care.
It’s true that having greater expectations can open you up and make you more at risk of getting things wrong but at the same time your potential rewards are greater. Just remember that when you get things wrong you get the chance to learn how not to do it, use this experience to change your approach and give you a better chance of success.
Here are some excellent ways to raise your expectations of yourself:
1. Challenge yourself with difficult tasks. Pushing yourself is best achieved by doing difficult tasks. You might not meet with instant success, but this learning experience can be the starting place for doing even bigger and better things in the future.
2. Stop playing it safe. If you stay in your comfort zone you are playing it safe. Push yourself to do things that are outside of your comfort zone and you will open yourself up to new and exciting opportunities. As you expand your comfort zone you’ll come to expect and achieve more without becoming uncomfortable.
3. Set a big goal. Find something challenging that you want to accomplish and share this with someone you trust. Now you’ll be committed to achieving it.
4. Go on an adventure. Try a survival training course, this will show you how to get back to basics. You’ll discover more about your abilities and your natural limits. You can then use this self-awareness to challenge yourself to new experiences in future.
5. Continuous learning. Never stop working on yourself, make it a habit to improve yourself. When you do, you will find that new experiences and opportunities simply fall your way. The new knowledge and skills you continue to acquire will support you in your quest to raise your expectations and achieve more.
Higher expectations will also help raise your self-esteem. What you think you can achieve is very important because it decides what you will achieve. When you raise the bar, you enable yourself to do more and be more than before.
Remember that your thoughts are very powerful. When you make the effort to raise your expectations, you’re also strengthening your self-worth and abilities. You’ll see yourself in a positive light and be better able to achieve your ultimate goals.
