Overcoming Shyness From NTL World
People who are shy many times make other people uncomfortable because they appear unapproachable, have difficulty making friends and often miss out on opportunities. Overcoming shyness does not have to be painful or frightening.
When someone uses visualization they are creating mental pictures of behaviors and situation they would like to be involved in. You need to daydream real life situations. This of a situation that is out of character for you. When you do this it helps you deal with real life situations.
Write in a journal and tell yourself not to be shy because when you do this enough you will want to do something about it.
Keeping eye contact with people so they know you are serious is vital in overcoming shyness. When we do not keep eye contact with someone, they feel that they are not important enough for you to talk to and you do not want to be there in the first place.
You should not do drugs or drink alcohol at a party or dinner because it might make you a social butterfly for that night but chances are you’ll enjoy it so much you will get high or drunk at every other situation and this will just add to your problems.
Be yourself. Whoever you are is who you are and whether you are a great talker or you stammer it is still you. People will like you for being yourself and then it will help you by overcoming your shyness.
Getting over your shyness may seem impossible right now, but with a little effort and the desire to be more outgoing with people, then you can definitely overcome shyness. It is important to know that the fears you feel when shyness hits you are typically always much worse than the reality of the situation.
Did you ever want to go up to someone and tell them they are pretty or how they impressed you with their clothes? Everyday go up to a total stranger and say something nice. You could compliment a pretty girl on her hair or a guy with his shirt. Try not to worry about what they say, just do it.
