Schultz Autogenic Training Information

Stress is something that nearly everyone has experienced, and if there are those that haven’t had to deal with it, they are far and few between. Between pressure from your work and personal concerns, sometimes the stress can be too much to handle. Johannes Schultz, who is a German psychiatrist, developed a relaxation technique which he named Autogenic Training, it is a relaxation method that many people have used to deal with the constant stress of everyday living. As with any type of program that helps relieve stress, dedication is the most important factor to have, and you must follow through with it regularly, not just when you feel like it.

Nothing can be worse than feeling the depression that is caused by the problems of your day to day life. Being able to use a method that will help you leave your problems behind offers people a great hope. There have been a variety of ideas in the past few years on how to get away from your problems and enjoy peace and tranquility.

Autogenic Training consists of 15 minute sessions, three times a day, which induce a relaxation state. This is very similar to self-hypnotism, where a person ‘talks’ themselves into a semi-conscious state and leaves the cares of the world behind.

The session is practiced while in a certain posture (either laying down, sitting, or standing in a comfortable position), where the person repeats certain phrases several times, and their body abides by the command. If for example, you say “my leg (arm or another part of the body) will be relaxed,” the body part will then follow the direction and become relaxed. This is repeated for the different parts of the body until full muscle relaxation is achieved.

There are many modern regimens that are built upon the idea that relaxation that can be obtained by Autogenic Training or INADA i.2A Massage Chair, can help in relieving acute stress and/or lessen more common aches and pains we all suffer.

This therapy has worked for a number of people and allowed them to receive both the physical and mental relief they are looking for. One of the most important aspect of this technique is the position of the body. Position is so important because anyone involved in this technique is doing it for the sake of relaxation and must be comfortable doing it. One of the most popular positions is lying flat on ones back and, starting at the feet, instructing one body part at a time to ‘release’ or ‘let go’ and relax.

This technique requires some time to accomplish the desired effect it cannot be accomplished over night. Having the body muscles ‘take a break’, one at a time, gives one the feeling of letting go of the world’s cares completely. When achieving this state the mind is able to concentrate on the pleasure of the moment and leave the problems of the world behind.

Many of today’s physical and mental therapists teach their patients to use this technique as it can be done simply and does not take huge period of time. This is a do-it-yourself project which anyone, after training, can do without supervision. Finding peace in this world of economic and personal tension is the aim of everyone. Some are able to get by without the support of sessions such as Autogenic Training but it is very difficult and this is a very easy way to obtain complete relaxation.
